Joey and I went down to my girlfriend Cheryl's on the 20th to hang out a couple of days with her and her boys. She has two - Aidan who is 3 next week and Conor who is 4 months. Although I talk to her on the phone quite often, and she only lives in San Jose, it seems like we never find the time to actually visit one another in person so I was so glad we managed to make this happen.
We arrived down there on Tuesday and took the boys to a local park to play and then out to frozen yogurt. The kids loved it as I let them pull the levers on the yogurt machine to make the ice cream as they called it come out. Plus they got to pick their own toppings - Aidan chose sprinkles and candy coated sunflower seeds while Joey selected mini M&M's, chocolate chips and sprinkles. It was yummy and perfect for a hot summer day.
That evening the boys got to have some tub time together. They looked so cute in the tub surrounded by bubbles. They had a blast playing boats together and pouring water from one container to another. I think they were in there for almost an hour before I scrubbed the days grime off of them and got them out and dressed for bed. We put them in the big bed that Joey and I would share and read them stories and they went right to sleep.
On Wednesday we went to Gilroy Gardens which is a botanical garden and kiddy amusement park in one. The boys had a great time riding all the car rides, from fire trucks to 1920 replicas, plus the train and carousel. Cheryl and I took turns taking them on the bigger rides since one of us had to stay back with baby Conor. What a little cute patootie that one is. I think though that even though the boys loved the rides that the highlight of the day for them was getting to meet Bob the Builder in person. Once they held his hand they didn't want to leave his side. It was just to cute.
The next day we had to head back as I had a scheduled doctor appointment. I wish our visit could of been longer as the boys got along so well that it was just a joy to watch. I really want to make more of these visits happen as I want our boys to grow up to be great friends, just like Cheryl and I.
